About Maryjean Zarick

Maryjean Zarick earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Ohio University (1977) where she studied harp with Lucile Jennings and continued with her graduate harp studies at Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon under Elaine Seely. After graduation, Maryjean concentrated on writing and arranging for lever harp. In 1987 she founded Paradise Music, one of the first publishing companies devoted to the lever harp. In 1990, Maryjean was nominated as a candidate for the Ohio University Alumni Of The Year Award for her harp music publishing efforts. In 2009, Maryjean won first and second place in the American Harp Society (Greater Seattle Chapter) Composer's Competition.

In addition to being a harpist, Maryjean is a Board Certified Music Therapist who received training in Guided Imagery and Music with Helen Bonny through the Institute For Consciousness and Music. Maryjean is a former member of the Music Therapy faculty at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After more than 20 years of teaching and performing in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Canada, Maryjean now resides just north of Orlando, Florida. She is currently head of the harp department at the newly established Sweetwater Fine Arts Academy and also maintains a private teaching studio. HarpMusicNow is Maryjean's effort to make sheet music available to all harpists, everywhere, at all ability levels.

Maryjean's harp books are still published by Paradise Music and are available through most harp retail shops.
